Betty White: First Lady of TV

Director Steve Boettcher, along with Betty White's executive assistant, Kiersten Mikelas will be on hand for a post-screening Q&A after their feature, and Jessica Bursi will introduce her short, Meet Uncle Paul.

The Melody Man

Sony Picture’s Vice President of asset management, film restoration, and digital mastering, Rita Belda will present new 4K restorations of the landmark Columbia Pictures’ musical The Melody Man and the powerful wartime drama None Shall Escape.

The Oscar-nominated editing team behind The Hurt Locker will appear together to discuss their rescuing of Duke Mitchell’s fascinating underworld exploitation effort Gone with the Pope. Plus, Bob Murawski will discuss his vital work in bringing Orson Welles’ The Other Side of the Wind to life after a 35mm screening, and Chris Innis will demonstrate her expertise on the history of Frank Perry’s The Swimmer, following a 35mm screening of this 1968 classic.

The Kohler Fellows are an interdisciplinary group of graduate students housed at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As part of their efforts to promote interdisciplinary conversation and exchange amongst members of the university and broader Madison community, they are hosting a post-film panel on to discuss Jean-Luc Goddard’s The Image Book. Two esteemed UW-Madison faculty members will offer their reflections and respond to audience questions. Panelists Professor Kelley Conway (Department Chair of Communication Arts, Artistic Director of the Wisconsin Film Festival) and Professor Vlad Dima (Department of French and Italian) will help unpack this extraordinary piece of French cinema.
